The Book Courtship Tag

I know I haven't been that active these past weeks, but Tasya @ The Literary Huntress nominated me to participate in this tag, so I decided to haul myself to my laptop and post! :) Thanks Tasya for nominating me! Also, you can count this as my super late Valentine's Day post :P

Phase 1 : Initial attraction | A book you bought because of the cover

Doesn't this say it all? I mean, look at the cover! It looks so amazing. I still haven't began to read it yet, but I can't wait to!

Phase 2 : First impressions | A book you bought because of the summary

I was immediately intrigued by the summary of Made You Up, because it would be the first book I've read of that genre. I ended up enjoying it very much and I hope you read it if you haven't already!

Phase 3 : Sweet talk | A book with great writing

I must say All The Light We Cannot See wins this spot. Actually, I think most historical fiction has great writing (and is usually quite deep) but I love this book the most.

Phase 4 : First date | A first book in a series that made you want to pick up the rest

It has to be Shadow and Bone, right? Leigh Bardugo's world building of the Grisha 'verse is just great. I love all the concepts and I'm still waiting for time to free up to read Crooked Kingdom. Oops. I didn't mean to push it that far down my TBR...

Phase 5 : Late night phone calls | A book that kept you up all night

A Darker Shade Of Magic is one of my favourite fantasy books of all time, and when I first picked up ADSOF, I could't help but question myself why I took so long before buying it. The world building was amazing and I adore the idea of many Londons. Can I live in Red London? I can't wait for the A Conjuring of Light!

Phase 6 : Always on my mind | A book you can't stop thinking about

Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson should be here. I can't stop thinking about Melinda and how common her story actually is in our world now. It's a really good book and I devoured it in one sitting, even though the topic is a touchy and difficult one.

Phase 7 : Getting physical | A book which feels nice

A book that feels nice? Then I guess I'd have to choose a book with a lot of fluff. Which is difficult to do since authors just like to play with our feelings with cliffhangers/plot twists and destroy our ships and OTPs :( but ok, I guess The Hidden Oracle (Trials of Apollo #1) was good enough because it had Solangelo in it! That is all I need, so thanks Rick :) Everything else in the book was angsty.

Phase 8 : Meeting the parents | A book you would recommend to your family and friends

My family and friends (sadly) don't always read the same genre of books I do, so if I were to recommend something, it would be The Five People You Meet in Heaven by Mitch Albom, because I do love his books. They are all so sad yet comforting to read.

Phase 9 : Thinking about the future | A book you will re-read a lot

Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe is one of the few Contemporary books that I actually enjoy rereading over and over again.  I really like the developing relationship between Aristotle and Dante, and how they gain confidence, finally finding themselves and each other. Aww, so sweet :)

Phase 10 : Sharing the love | Whom do you tag?

I tag Caroline @ Just Another Bookish Blog and Laura @ Blue Eye Books but anyone can join in!

Greek Mythology Tag

Hi everyone! Here's another tag for you: the Greek Mythology Tag a while back, but finally, I've gotten round to doing it! Before beginning, I just want to thank Tasya @ The Literary Huntress for tagging me - THANKS TASYA :D You can check out her answers here. So, let's begin! :)

Zeus (Jupiter) : God of the sky and thunder / King of the gods

Favourite book (choose your own category!)

How do I even choose? Well, I know my favourite category is Fantasy, but which book from it? Ah, I know! I adore A Court of Mist and Fury, which I thought was so good. It was packed with action, world building, plot twists... Everything I need! :)

Hera (Juno) : Goddess of marriage and fertility

Cutest book couple

How can I choose? I have so many OTPs, but I think the one that rises above the rest is Percabeth. No arguments there. All the sass and banter is so fun to read about. Oh yes, and Solangelo ;)

Poseidon (Neptune) : God of the seas and earthquakes

Book that drowned you in feels

I think we can all agree that Clockwork Princess was filled to the rim with feels and angst. The love triangle, JEM, WILL, basically everything. UGH :(

Athena (Minerva) : Goddess of wisdom, handicraft and strategic warfare

Series with the best world building

The Grisha series. One of the best world building I've read. Would you want to live there? I'd like to be a Grisha, it seems so cool. Who hasn't dreamed of having special powers?

Hades (Pluto) : God of the Underworld

Favourite book with dark/ominous plot

Asylum by Madeleine Roux, which kind of reminds me of Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children, especially because it also has many creepy photos inside. I always love books with mental asylums in it, so that was a bonus as well.

Aphrodite (Venus) : Goddess of love and beauty

Most beautiful cover on a 2016 release

Ares (Mars) : God of war and bloodshed

Most violent book you've ever read

I don't think I've read a book with as much violence as As I Darken by Kiersten White. It is a retelling of Vlad the Impaler, so no surprises there about the amount of bloodshed.

Hephaestus (Vulcan) : God of blacksmiths and fire

Scorching hot swoon worthy character

Can I choose Will Herondale? He's so sarcastic and sassy all the time. ;)

Artemis (Diana) : Goddess of the hunt and virginity

Favourite kick-ass heroine

My favourite heroine is and will always be Katniss Everdeen. She's strong, ruthless when needs to be but also isn't afraid to show her emotions.

Phoebus Apollo (Apollo) : God of light and healing

Sequel that redeemed the series

I think this will fall to Her Dark Curiosity by Megan Shepherd. I did enjoy The Madman's Daughter, but I thought the second book really did push the series even further, so that it was even more intriguing.

Hermes (Mercury) : Messenger god of thieves and commerce

Book with best message

There Will Be Lies by Nick Lane is one of the best contemporary-mystery books I've ever read. The plot, the style, the character development, everything. I recommend you to read it right now.

Hestia (Vesta) : Goddess of the hearth and home

Book with most relatable story

Book with the most relatable story? I think this would fall into the Contemporary book category, therefore: The Lucy Variations by Sara Zarr. I find it relatable because it's all about classical music and piano, another one of my interest! ;D

Demeter (Ceres) : Goddess of fertility and agriculture

Favourite bookish setting

The Londons in A Darker Shade of Magic. Who doesn't like the idea of different Londons? As I've said before, Red London seems to be the best to live in.

Dionysus (Bacchus) : God of wine and celebration

2016 release you are most anticipating

So, that's the end of the tag! I hope you enjoyed reading it! :)

I tag:

And anyone else!

Ruler of Books Tag

Hi everyone! After a long while, I'm back with another tag! So, I'd like to start off with a huge THANKS to Caroline @ Just Another Bookish Blog for tagging me in this :) You can find her post here. Without further ado, let us begin!

Not my picture. Credits to Caroline :)

1. What book would you make everyone read?

I would probably make everyone read Illuminae, because it's such a unique book and I enjoyed every aspect of it!

2. What would you abolish from book construction?

Probably the fact that there are some books where the next chapter follows directly from the last sentence on the same page. I mean:

blah blah blah. (end of chapter)

Chapter 3 (for example)

I don't know why, it just makes it a lot more difficult to read. There are no breaks whatsoever and my poor eyes water.

3. What author would you commission to write every book ever? OR what author would you commission to write a book for you?

So many authors to choose from! My top 5 will be:
1. J.K Rowling
2. Cassandra Clare
3. Rick Riordan
4. Suzanne Collins
5. Sarah J. Maas

4. What book would you demote to the library basement to make room for new books?

I would probably pick Paper Towns by John Green *hides from angry mob*. I really didn't enjoy the book or the movie, for that matter. I don't get what the hype is all about, but oh well.

5. What cover artist would you commission to paint a beautiful mural?

I'd get Alison Klapthor, who designed the cover of A Thousand Pieces of You! It looks amazing and having a mural like that? SO cool!

6. What character's face would you put on a coin?

I'd put Katniss Everdeen on one of them, because she's one of the most badass protagonists I've ever read about. No one comes close. Not even Tris.

7. What book would you give the Ruler of Books award of 2016 to?

Oh, I've read so many good books in 2016, so how do I choose? I think my top 2 books of 2016 are A Court of Mist and Fury and A Gathering of Shadows! I equally loved the two of these books! :)

So, I hope you enjoyed reading this little tag! Now, I nominate:

And anyone else who wants to join in! :)

Captain America Civil War Book Tag!

I was nominated by Tasya - thanks so much! Check out her post here. I was really excited to see this tag. I haven't had the chance to see the movie yet, but rest assured I will ASAP. BUT I am still team Captain America! This tag was created by Jennifer @ Wonderland Review here, be sure to check it out!

Ok, let's begin.

Rules
  • Thank the person who tagged you
  • Tag anyone you want!

Team Captain America

Captain America: Name a character who always does the right thing. (If you aren't Team CA, change this to a character who thinks he always does the right thing)

It's so difficult to find someone who always does the right thing, because everyone screws up from time to time. I think Annabeth does the right thing 98% of the time, though she has made mistakes from time to time. She's a trustworthy character though!

Falcon: A loyal character

Violetta from The Young Elites! She's stuck with her sister for so long, even though Adelina's views are pretty warped and twisted. No matter what Adelina does, Violetta still seems to support her sister. But, I'm not sure how far this loyalty will last.

Hawkeye: A character who is extremely good at something specific (like Hawkeye and his bow)

The first person who jumps to mind is Katniss Everdeen! She's amazing with her bow (like Hawkeye) and she never misses her target. Plus, they both look absolutely badass with a bow :)

Ant-Man: A character who is just happy to tag along

This is so Tyson! He's such a bundle of sunshine, and he's just happy to help Percy and Annabeth. Blindly oblivious and too optimistic at times, but he is a great friend to everyone.

Agent 13: A character you're super nervous about

Mayor Prentiss from The Knife of Never Letting Go! He seems like the ultimate dystopian leader, always wanting the 'best' for everyone, and isn't afraid of the lengths he'll go to get what he wants. Now that Todd is once again in his clutches, what will happen?

Winter Soldier: A character whose mind isn't entirely their own

I'd say Holland, especially in A Gathering of Shadows! Poor Holland, he's not even a bad guy. I hope everything ends well for him. He was only trying to make things right... :(

Scarlet Witch: A character who started out on the wrong side but ended up joining the team

Cal from Red Queen started out on the side of the Silvers, obviously, but after a certain betrayal, he finally switched to help the Scarlet Guard in Glass Sword. Although the Scarlet Guard may be cruel and corrupt in some areas, their goals are clearer and more on the side of 'the greater good', so I would say that's the right 'team'.

Bonus - Winter Soldier and Captain America: Two characters who have been friends for a long time

This is definitely Jem and Will from TID! Not only are they parabatai, but they have a strong brotherly relationship. They even seem closer than Alec and Jace. Jem and Will go together like Yin and Yang.

Team Iron Man

Iron Man: A character who doesn't seem to learn from their mistakes (If you are Team IM, change this to a character willing to stand up to his friends for what he believes in)

Who doesn't learn? Todd! Every time he doesn't kill someone, they come back later to try and kill Todd. Come on Todd. Yes, it's refreshing to see a YA character having trouble with killing, but there should be a limit to how many times he refuses to kill.

War Machine: A character who is always showing off his 'big guns'

I think Bellamy from the 100 is always trying to prove that he can survive just fine on his own. He's quite antisocial, but he does care about his sister and Clarke.

Black Widow: Badass female character who also has a soft side

This is so Kestrel! She's very intelligent and cunning, but she doesn't want to fight for her country. She'd rather get married. Woah, I know right? How often do we get YA female characters like this? Basically never. It's great that Kestrel can be so badass and girly - we need some change around here.

Black Panther: A character out for revenge

Nathan, especially during Half Lost, was blinded by anger and hatred for Annalise. He was bloodthirsty for revenge. Nothing got in his way and he was completely ruthless. A bit frightening to see the transition from young, innocent boy to cold, closed-off man, but that's that.

Vision: A character you're unsure about

Rhysand from ACOTAR as well! He is so mysterious, and I am not sure about his intentions towards Feyre yet. He's definitely hiding something, but I don't think he's the evil one.

Spider Man: A character you were afraid just wasn't going to fit in

I wasn't sure if Winter from the Lunar Chronicles would fit in with the gang, especially with Scarlet previously being her 'pet', though Winter is a sweetheart and would never hurt anyone.

Pepper Potts (Not sure she's in this movie anyway): A character who uses their intelligence

Kaz is definitely a cunning person. He's smart, especially street smart. He has so many tricks up his sleeve that everyone else won't know until it's too late.

Bonus - Captain America vs. Iron Man: Pick: Two characters who started off as friends and are now enemies OR name two characters that are on opposing sides that you want to work together

Like most of us, I really hope Kell and Holland team up together to restore balance to all Londons! Even though they aren't the best of friends, I'm sure they actually make a good team.

Awesome! Now, to spread the fun. I tag:

Sorry if I didn't tag you! If you liked this tag, feel free to join in! Even if you haven't watched the movie or don't want to watch the movie :)
